Artica's Fable

Once upon a time, in a land lost in the ages, there was a mysterious but magical creature called a Siren. Despite being half dragon and half mermaid, she is the most beautiful in her own world. Peacefully residing in her great lone lake that lies in the center of the land.

Her name was Artica, and she sings in soft vocals for all inhabitants of her home, may it be fish, bird, or beast. Her songs were soothing as spring water and sweet as fresh honey. The magical melody spread all over the land like a raging wind. The animals were happy when they heard her, thus falling in love.

The source of her magic relies on the SoulHeart, an enchanted jewel embedded on her chest. Her love for the animals is the only thing that powers it.

But the good siren's malevolent sister named Jade, grew jealous of the love Artica has received. So she decided that if she cannot have love, then she shall cause hatred in the land. So one day, when the good siren began to sing, Jade sang in a higher tone that matches Artica's vocals. Her beautiful but venomous song quickly spread like a plague, turning every animal against each other. Disheartened, believing her song caused anger on those she loved dearly, she fled from her lake and swam out to sea.

For several months time, she lived in deep sadness at an isolated island. She has never sang a single song once, because she fears she'll bring anger again. So she lived alone, without a single friend.

But one fateful day, a dolphin was swimming near the island when takes notice of Artica, who is slumped on the rocks. So he gently swam over to her.

The dolphin asked, "Why such a sad face?".

The siren perks her head up in attention, and began explaining her tale.

After hearing her story, the dolphin replied, "I would love to hear your song, so I can judge for myself".

Although reluctant, Artica cleared her throat and slowly began to sing softly. As she does, the dolphin became appalled but amazed by her angelic singing. When she finished, he applauded her and asked how she sang so well. The siren said it was love of animals that made her happy. The dolphin realizes and told her that happiness makes her sing, and that she must return to her land. Knowing what she must do, she thanked him and swam back home.

Returning home, she swam to her lake and began singing for the animals. The creatures heard her, and fell in love once more. When Jade heard her sister singing, she starts singing her venomous song. But it proved unaffected because Artica's song became more powerful due to the happiness and love within her SoulHeart. Ashamed and angry of her own failure she fled and was never seen or heard from again.

Over time, when Man came to this land, they heard the beautiful singing from the lake, but found no evidence of a woman or creature. Years went by, and storied began spinning of a mysterious being with an enchanted song which they dubbed "Melody of the Lake".
